Myles Garrett has been a beast for the Cleveland Browns defense and a genuinely good guy in the community. So what is there you might not know about him?

  1. As a true freshman in 2014, Garrett broke Texas A&M’s freshman sack record of 5.5 in only six games. As a sophomore, he recorded 12 sacks and 8.5 as a junior. In high school, he had 19.5 sacks in his senior year!
  2. Garrett was drafted number one overall in the 2017 NFL draft. He became the highest draft pick to ever come from the Aggies. Five players before him had been picked second overall and 34 had picked in total in the first round.
  3. Despite missing 5 games due to injury in his rookie year with Cleveland, Myles Garrett led the team in sacks. He continues to be one of the top sackers for the Browns and the NFL.
  4. He writes poetry and is currently working on a dinosaur book for children. Not much else to say about this but it is neat.
  5. Garrett has 42.5 career sacks and 107 solo tackles in the 51 games he has played. If he had sacked one time per game, he would only have 8.5 games where he didn’t sack someone. His tackles make up for that though.
  6. He has been named the captain of the NFL Waterboys, an organization that uses its resources to bring clean water to East Africa. This led the Browns to nominate him for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award.
  7. Myles Garrett has been to two Pro-Bowls (2018, 2020) and was added to the 2020 All-Pro First Team. He sure seems like he will be invited to many more Pro-Bowls in his career
  8. He has two athletically gifted siblings. His half-brother, Sean Williams, played in the NBA from 2007 to 2012, and his sister, Brea Garrett, won the 2014 NCAA title for the 20-pound weight throw. She was the first in Texas A&M history to win a title in the weight throw.
  9. Garrett has a sponsorship deal with Adidas. Nothing more to this just thought to share it. Probably gets sweet deals and plenty of free shoes.
  10. He has been in the top 10 for forced fumbles and sacks twice in the NFL. He is a sacking wizard and all Quarterbacks should be scared.
